Thanks to Henry Bochner, my son, I am now a design blogger. Wow!!! It's an interesting concept for a private person, like myself, to share my life online. A little scary, I have to say. But it's a concept I'm willing to explore for my love of design and for the interesting juicy visuals that are exploding in Savannah, Georgia.
Our family lives in Savannah, Georgia and has for 12 years. Dan Bochner, my fabulous husband, is a busy Psychologist here. He's soon to publish a new book, The Emotional Tool Box: A Manuel for Mental Health. Thankfully it will be on the shelves soon! You can check him out at drbochner.com. Henry, my eldest, is a budding filmmaker extraordinaire and is the all around coolest 16 year old that I know. He keeps me on my toes and is the other half of my heart. My younger boy, Owen, otherwise known as A la Cose' Cose' is the baby of the family, and has the old soul of the most sagacious little old man. When you need to know how to do something, go to Owen, because he knows how to get it done!
As for me, I am currently focusing my efforts on two jobs for two families, one that is selling their house, and another that wants their large Savannah home personalized just for them, for their comfort, for the rest of their lives. Perhaps the most personal project for me is my own home. I recently redesigned my kitchen, which is really the epitome of me and the way our family lives. The way I view design is this: I see it as my job to infuse personality and style into the houses where I work, always keeping in mind the personal needs of the folks who fill the space. I make a plan, follow my heart and it usually evolves in an organic fashion. I love doing this in Savannah, it is quickly becoming a booming design mecca and I'm ecstatic to be a part of it.
In my blog I hope to share my life in Savannah and the esthetics that surround me. In the future I will share photos of this stunning city and the houses where I work. I will provide before and after photos and generally try to demonstrate the process of my design. I also want to share the cool stuff I find in Savannah. At heart I'll always be a junk picker. Oh, and of course, I will always try to share the rare old beauty that this great city holds.
This sounds very interesting Mary Jo and right up your talent arena! Someday I want to have a "play date" in my house! Have fun & good luck with your venture!
